I want, Ma,
I want, so badly, to take a walk with you,
and cook up stories to grab that new flavour of ice cream.
I want them... those late Sunday mornings,
and get up seeing you reading the newspaper by my side, and,
I want to listen yet again
to the lectures about how i’ll never grow up
and how i shall never be able to take care of those bills and groceries,
plan and organise my life better.
I am ready to spend those endless weekends
promising you how i shall learn how to cook the next weekend,
drooling at the bowl of the tastiest custard you’d have made for me.
And I want to lose those arguements, again,
on how i can take care of life myself
and walk my stupid way into my room
bang the door and throw tantrums.
I want to fret over my pimples, yeah, yet again,
and go to sleep every night talking to you about my future plans.
I want to revisit the pride in your eyes when they praise me
while you give your trade mark self effacing shrug.
I’m tempted to run into your arms again
and cry at why they always say I’m fat.
I’m ready to undo this business of growing up,
only to see you back with me
and I’m so ready now for that warm hug of yours
and the strength and comfort it gives me...
I want to be your kid, yet again.
I so loved every bit of it.I want to shed this stuffy coat of an adult
hold your hand and say,
Mom, you know, that colour would look good on you.
Ma, I miss you...
